What learning looks like during COVID

This video shows Beritta taking learning outside with the local children in Cotton Tree during the COVID Pandemic, when all local schools were closed down. She worked from the front porch of a relative's house.

When Beritta was finally able to return to the United States, the kids didn't have any other teacher to hold informal outdoor classes. One of the main issues with education in Liberia in recent decades, war, and disease have forced children across the country to miss school for extended periods of time--months and often years have been missed. Our mission is to get kids in school at KIPS at the nursery level and work with the community and families to keep them help them persist in school.
